Tim Challies reviewed Fireproof, the new film from the people who made Facing the Giants, and liked it quite a bit. I have my doubts.

In light of the Writer's Strike, I've been feeling sort of guilty at just how broken up I am about the whole thing. I find myself wincing at the idea of The Office disappearing in two weeks. I cringe at the thought of a giant break after the first eight episodes of Lost. I just assumed this was a sign that I was way too into television. -
CGI Storytelling: Why WALL-E Works and Kung Fu Panda Doesn’t

While both films received relatively good reviews, only one told a compelling story, the other was filled with tired cliches and jokes interrupted with marketing moments. One was a genuinely well-made film, worthy of praise and the other could only be explained with the phrase, "it's just a movie."

Having pre-screened Fireproof last week here in Texas, my wife and I came away very excited at the potential impact of this movie and its powerful message. It is a gem that is worth seeing and spreading the word about! Marriage as God intends it to be is upheld in a very creative and entertaining, as well as deeply moving and convicting way.
