The Washington Post does a piece about a Church/State issue coming before the Supreme Court this term. Specifically, it relates to a display of a cross on National land in honor of WW I veterans. I would also point you to this opinion of Justice Thomas in the 2004 “Under God” case. The issues of the Establishment and Free Exercise Clauses in the First Amendment are far from settled, as this case will continue to show.
