I’m halfway through Book 3 and unless things turn out drastically different than I imagine, Pullman’s actually done the opposite of what he hoped to accomplish. It’ll be interesting to see how it pans out.

p.s. the books aren’t quite the masterpieces that everyone keeps saying. Both Overstreet and Mohler praise the quality of the books, but honestly, though they are entertaining for the most part, they do suffer from mediocre writing at points throughout. On top of that Pullman’s characters are all very much cardboard cutouts and the reader does not really ever see much in the realm of character development.

Interesting, if not entertaining, comments here.
