No McDonald’s Today: “McDonald’s is now on trial. The fries are good. Even great. But the worldview they support isn’t fit for human consumption.”

Why We Can Neither Boycott nor Ignore “The Golden Compass”
07 December 2007 4:18 PM | 34 CommentsDr. Francis Schaeffer was the prophetic voice of the 20th Century. He forewarned the Christian community of both postmodernity (before it was called postmodernity) and the real issues behind secular humanism. He was a brilliant man whose wisdom, epistemological skills, and grasp of the history of philosophy made him an awesome asset to the Christian community. He was a noted speaker with a worldwide ministry until his death in 1984.

Wearing Our Faith
06 February 2008 3:02 PM | 26 CommentsOne of the remarkable aspects of our culture is that although we are inundated with advertisements all day long, we are often willing to pay for a tee-shirt or bumper sticker which advertises for someone. As Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes) once said, "A good shirt turns the wearer into a walking corporate billboard." When we aren't wearing an advertisement or sticking one to our bumper, we are often promoting an idea or belief which serves to identify us with a group: "I learned these 10 things from playing video games," "war is wrong," "gun control is unjust," or even "Jesus saves!"

Reviewing the Critics: Can We Trust Secular Film Critics?
26 February 2008 3:11 PM | 27 CommentsEditor of Movieguide, Tom Snyder writes,"Just because the secular movie critics and secular elites in Hollywood don’t like some of the movies we pick does not mean that they are really bad movies within the categories in which we pick them. In that sense, ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS was a very entertaining, uplifting family movie that kids would enjoy. The mainstream critics trashed it, but the American audience, many of whom still have strong vestiges of their Christian heritage, even though not all of them may understand essential Christian doctrines like the sinlessness of Christ and the biblical doctrine of salvation by grace through faith, not by works, seemed to like the movie very much."

While this is good to know, dragging WWII into this discussion seems disingenuous and absurd:
“McDonald’s has decided, apparently, to declare war on my family. And to declare war on the civilization of liberty, independence, creativity, and humanity under God that my Dad fought for in World War II.”
Besides, who eats at McDonald’s anyway?
The poor but over worked. And the young.
Just hearing the bogus phrase “homosexual agenda” makes me want to vomit up the Big Mac I just ate. The gay people I know are real people, who suffer and search for truth. They don’t have an “agenda.”
I plan to eat at McDonald’s more often now that I know they oppose gay-bashing and support basic equal employment opportunity.
Wow, I hadn’t read the article until now. It’s almost like the author is built of madness.
Why is it that he imagines that McDonald’s support of non-discriminatory laws is in any way an attack on his family is beyond reason. I suppose he must imagine that if people who have committed homosexual acts are allowed to get jobs as easily as those who haven’t, then his wife will probably leave him and his children will hire attorneys to begin divorce proceedings. I mean, that’s only reasonable, I suppose.
My favourite comment ran something like this: “Oh great! What next? A MacGay burger??” Because yes, the renaming of their meals is the first thing that will happen after McDonald’s destroys the family.
The Dane: I think the “McGay burger” will come in a rainbow-colored box with flames on the sites. Persons who buy the burger will be able to choose a doll of their choice: Judy Garland, Liza Minelli, or Barbra Streisand (with accompany CD, of course). If the person wants a male doll, he/she can pick one modeled after one of the Village People guys.
