Ah, Obama is so much like Jesus, isn’t he. He’s alone in his suffering as president just like Jesus was alone in his suffering as Messiah. Such a great comparsion…(this is me being sarcastic).
Wait, are you criticizing (albeit sarcastically) a particular part of the article? And are you saying we can’t draw strength from Christ to deal with our(albeit lesser) pain by acknowledging that he experienced similar hardships?
I honestly don’t know what to do with that.
David, I’m assuming you’re criticising the poor article and not Obama?
Because I think you’re right… that was just shoddy work. It looks as though the reporter tried to read into the Mark study a bunch of stuff that wasn’t there, as if Obama specifically is studying Mark for the purpose of knowing how a Messiah figure is supposed to cope with the stress of everyday life.
But I don’t think there’s anything to critique about Obama DOING a bible study… I mean, that’s probably a better-than-nothing circumstance, right?
sorry, brothers. I seem to have responded in haste without careful articulation of my point. Clearly I am not opposed to Obama doing Bible study, that’s just ridiculous to oppose. I was taking a shot at the bizzarre angle the article took.
