Remembering Christian rock maverick Larry Norman:“Fans of contemporary Christian music (or CCM, as it’s come to be known) often claim that their heroes could be mainstream stars if only they didn’t sing about Jesus. Usually, that’s a lot of malarkey, but in Norman’s case, it happened to be true.”

Wow. I hadn’t heard he died. That article was utterly fascinating to me. I’m a huge Pixies fan and to read of Norman’s influence on Black Francis (whose Pixies in turn influenced so many) was great because I grew up with Norman’s rock-n-roll jangle feeding the rhythms of my youth.

I just ripped my old Norman albums to iTunes and think I’ll give him a listen for the first time in forever.
