Good riddance, I say.
LOL, you always say what I think :-)
I rarely go into a Christian bookstore and when I “have” to I usually walk out either very sad or annoyed because of all the Jesus Junk.
Yeah, the last Christian bookstore I went to was maybe less than 25% books. And of course, they would never have any book I was looking for (unless for reasons beyond reason I was looking to get Left Behind on sale).
Since 1996/97, all my Christian book needs have been ably met by the internet (primarily Amazon and ABEbooks).
Well with regards to ‘Christian’ music perhaps if they were focused on praise & worship rather than profit then they would never have had this problem.
It’s not just Christian retail that is suffering- we’re in a recession, but the music industry is particularly dying a long drawn out death.
Most people download, and a large percentage of young people (the next generations coming up) don’t pay to download. The music artists that are going to win are those that recognize the new business model.
Sharing is the future. I would bet that many young people in Christian families aren’t paying for music either.
Once again it takes the world to lead the church, rather than the church taking the initiative. If they want to get Christian youth out there worshipping and listening to Christian music they need to adapt to file-sharing and creative commons.

I will say that I am thankful for the exceptions to this reality, like the campus bookstore on Southern Seminary etc.
That is a “Christian” bookstore that I could camp out in for a month straight!
