This was a poll with no obvious positive answer for me. And only one obvious negative answer.
Negatively, television is in no way a “beloved” medium for me. While I have enjoyed television shows over the ages—we just got the fifth season of The Office (unfortunately **SPOILER ALERT** Michael Scott is still in it)—it has not proved to be nearly avaluable, engaging, or edifying as the other mediums listed.
Of the remainders, each enriches my life in a multitude of ways. I guess, though, that the one that has enriched my life more than any other is reading.
I guess I was thinking of on a personal level, which is why I put video games rather than books. I recognize that books are probably the better and more helpful medium, but dad gummit, if I’m being honest, I’d just rather play a video game most of the time.
I also was thinking on a personal level. I have a lot of fun with videogames and they help to organize my thought patterns in ways that other mediums cannot. Still, as much as I love videogames (and film and the internet), no medium has benefited me as much (both in learning and in pleasure) as literature. It’s a close call, but books (especially fiction) affect me more than any other medium.
I’ll have to go with books on this one, based on the fact that I believe they have influenced me more than any of the others.
Of course, who can say what impact hours of TV-watching as a kid had on me…
Speaking of books, Rich. Did you ever read Cyndere’s Midnight? My local library finally got a copy so i was considering it. However, I don’t really remember much of what happened in Auralia’s Colors (save for snatches of the finale), so Cyndere would have to be pretty good to tempt me to revisit Overstreet’s world.
As usual, I can’t vote on a CAPC poll for an unknown reason. Let it be known that I vote music.
Hmm, that is weird…
