I’m curious. What do you guys think is a healthy cultural diet? By that I mean: approximately how much time do you think should be spent in various mediums? And should we distinguish between genres?
For instance:
- How often should one read? Should one read non-fiction more than fiction? Should one impose a limit on reading or can you never read too much?
- What about the lesser-esteemed mediums: TV, Video Games, etc. Should one attempt to deliberately spend less time doing those or is it all about how and what you watch or play?
- Do you indulge in guilty pleasures? If so, do you feel you have to balance these things out with more substatial or edifying things?
- Would you characterize the answers to these questions as hard and fast rules, or general guidelines?
