So before there was the Friday Night Lights television show, there was the Friday Night Lights movie. The movie had the same director, Peter Berg, and Connie Britton was still the Coach’s wife. Well, is Berg thinking of rounding up the television gang for another Friday Night Lights movie?? Sure seems like a possibility.
Berg tells MTV that it would “be critical” that they “get Kyle [Chandler] and Connie” and that it would be loosely based on Mike Leach’s departure from Texas Tech. Some of the big early questions: will it be called Friday Night Lights 2? Can Parenthood continue to function if all of the FNL actors it tends to borrow are working on the movie? Who is a bigger movie star right now–Coach, Riggins, or Vince?
I’m going to say Vince because I enjoyed Chronicle just a bit more than Super 8, but we’ll see what John Carter has to offer.
Best part of the Grantland piece? The commentary on Kitsch referencing himself in the third person: “OK, first of all: Riggins referring to himself with an endearingly shortened nickname? If at one point during this press run Kitsch talks about himself in the third person as “No. 33,” I will raise one hand to the skies in victory.”
Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Lose.
