Good point about Gran Torino. Eastwood seems much more positive toward organized religion than often shows up on screen. Usually organized religion shows up in the form of the Catholic Church, though I wouldn't get too picky considering how bad any branch of historic Christianity gets treated normally. The young priest is interesting in not being a hypocrite or pedophile or something else awful. He is a bit naive but genuine and Catholic-ly orthodox. Eastwood's character in Gran Torino even attempts to get right with God, and says a prayer at his moment of self-sacrifice.

I haven't seen Invictus, but I find it interesting that his previous movie, Gran Turino (spoiler alert), had a pretty blatant Christ figure at it's focus as well.

Thanks Ben. I definitely recommend it and plan on seeing it again once it comes out on video. I keep being impressed by Clint Eastwood as a director. He's 80 now and keeps doing such good work even at this point.

Great review, Adam.

I'd love to see further thoughts on the full poem itself and how it interacts with the Christian faith. For instance, my only knowledge of the poem was that Timothy McVeigh (the Oklahoma City bomber) wanted that poem quoted as his official last words. Like Frost's, "The Road Less Traveled," it seems there are multiple ways this can be taken!

I appreciate the good review, I'm excited to see this movie.
