I think you're right about the advantage of not having seen the show recently (I think too much familiarity with the original was why <i>Christianity Today's</i> reviewer was less impressed by the film). I hope this isn't the last <i>Get Smart</i> we see, though hopefully next time they can find a more creative threat than a nuclear bomb.
